We are noticing a trend in Ireland that if breakfast is included with the hotel they will deliver it to the room for just a couple dollars! This breakfast was nowhere near as good though. We walked down to the city center and passed by St Kieran’s college which is now an all boys' high school. This was built in the 1700s as a seminary and then became a boarding school. We also passed by St. Patrick's Catholics Church on our stroll.

Things to Do in Kilkenny, Ireland

The streets felt very similar to Galway, but the cars could drive down all the roads here where in Galway there were a bunch of pedestrian only roads. We finally made it to the famous Kilkenny Castle! We approached it from the back and were initially underwhelmed but when we walked around and saw the front our jaws dropped. It felt like I was staring at a branch of Hogwarts!

We decided to do the self guided tour throughout the castle which was really cool to see. It was amazing how much they have been able to preserve and refurbish in the past century. There were a few huge tapestries that were hung throughout the castle that were hundreds of years old. Every room had a different angle of the city with a different view and each one was better than the last!

We continued through the city stopping at the local bookstore and their shopping mall. We saw a few different smaller churches and finally ended up at the St Canice Cathedral which is the biggest one. This one is no longer Catholic and it was a $10 per person fee to get in so we opted to just view from the outside. As we were walking around town we noticed the presence of Steelers fans was getting heavier and heavier!

We stopped at the Kyteler's Inn for dinner and it was delicious! It was a very old building and we were able to watch some of the Ryder Cup while we were there. Here is the news article that inspired the name of the restaurant. Taylor got a build your own toastie and I got a Cajun chicken panini which was great. We saw pretty much the entire town by this point so we headed back to the hotel a little early.

Meeting the family in Dublin tomorrow!

Ben :)
