Things to Do in Alesund, Norway
We have arrived in Alesund! We were allowed to disembark starting at 10:00 and we were right there in the morning ready to get off! We walked around the cute little town and noticed the very colorful architecture around the city. Most of the roads were made of brick as well which was very interesting. We also watched some people kayak down the city river which looked like fun!
We popped in the Art Noveau museum which was cool but just not for us, wish we had saved the $10. We walked in all the shops and stopped to take a selfie with these cool looking statues, not sure if they are trolls or the old towns people. On the way back to the ship we stopped right outside the port to watch this school performance! There were probably 100 elementary and middle school kids singing to the tourists which was really cute.
Fjords Cruise in Alesund
We hopped on back on board the ship to grab a little lunch and obviously another ice cream cone. We also had to meet up with the excursions team as we were doing a cruise through the fjord! Since we missed seeing everything yesterday we decided to take the smaller boat around the fjords to get close up views. The boat left from right beside our ship so it was very convenient!
There was an inside with a TON of seats and a heater which I loved, but all the best views were from up above on the top on the boat! The wind was whipping as we sailed through the fjords. We passed through many shipping yards and small fishing villages but finally got into the all nature and beautiful fjords.
This specific village has been used for a few movies including Black Widow and one with Tom Cruise in it! This much larger ferry also passed by us and the guide explained that it is a transport ferry for the locals to get from their villages to the city, bringing their cars and such things with them! There was a little tourist town at the end of the fjord and we even got to see a helicopter land there bringing guests to one of the resorts.
It was Frozen night! This was a new show for Taylor and one that I have only ever seen once so it was really cool. We had dinner at Royal Court and headed to see the FlyBoys at the end of the night so we didn’t have to go to their big performance tomorrow. They were the other variety act on the ship this cruise. We headed to bed with a very early morning ahead of us!
Stay tuned for a very wet day!
Ben :)
