We are officially in Norway, the first stop is Olden! This is a tiny town and definitely the smallest cruise port that I have ever seen. Thank goodness we did an excursion cause there was really nothing else to see or do. The first picture is the view from our room. We headed down to the Buena Vista Theater to get our stickers and meet the excursions team. This is actually my first ever excursion on a cruise! We then boarded the coach and were off.
Briksdal Glacier, Norway
We made one stop on the drive to our hike and it was this beautiful lake surrounded by the mountains and glaciers. This was a road I would never want to drive on, barely room for one car let alone two cars or an entire bus! But our driver did a great job and 90 minutes later we arrived to start off the hike to Briksdal Glacier. Right off the parking lot there was a beautiful waterfall and we started the hike along this river.
The area we are in is Jostedal Glacierr National Park and we were going to see one of the arms of the glacier called Briksdal. The hike was very pretty with all shades of green and rushing water. It was very uphill but there were stairs that made it go by faster. This first waterfall was pretty big and there was no way around it but getting pretty wet as the wind was gusting hard.
We finally arrived at the base of the glacier! The little lake at the bottom was such an amazing blue color from the water melting. We even got to see someone get engaged here! I think it is funny that they have PhotoPass cast members come to the excursions and take photos for guests along the way. Once we hiked back it took all in all about 90 minutes! There was tea, coffee and little cakes waiting for us the bottom.
We got back on the ship and headed straight for the soft serve obviously! We then decided to rest for a minute since we had an early dinner at Palo! Palo is one of the two luxury dining options on the ship that you can pay for and it’s absolutely worth it. Taylor loves the pesto gnocchi they have and I always get the calamari. They gave us a little plate that said Congratulations since we had just gotten engaged!
We decided to join in on pirate night after fancy dinner and put on our bandanas! We skipped the pirates show up on the top deck but still had fun wandering around the ship. We also decided to swing by our normal dinner rotation since the desserts looked too good to pass up! Off to bed for another day off the ship tomorrow!
Tomorrow we get on a smaller boat!
