Day 15 - Travel Day to the UK - September 14, 2025

We woke up bright and early to take the shuttle to the airport, then realized we probably got there a little excessively early, only 3 hours! Taylor was very excited to see there was a little coffee shop that had a chai latte! Chai lattes are not very common in Iceland we found out. We stopped and grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to the gate.

We were on the bus and headed out to the plane! I never understood this method of boarding, since it kinda just ruins the point of boarding groups. It was a see you later Iceland as the horizon grew further away and we started seeing nothing but ocean. Icelandair is great with the screens on the back of each chair. I decided to watch Bonhoeffer which was good, not great but good.

We got these little chocolates on the flight, and each one resembled a different landmark in Iceland which was pretty cool! Soon enough we saw land again and we were in the UK! The grass was so green! We landed in the north terminal and breezed through customs with no problem at all.

The hotel was outside the south terminal so we had to hop on the little train and walk for about 5 minutes (in the rain), then finally made it to another airport Courtyard Marriott. This was very exciting because there are more American TV channels in the UK! Still waiting for a good US style bathroom though.

We grabbed a quick bite to eat downstairs, Taylor got a ham and cheese sandwich, while I opted for the Korean style chicken, both were great! This hotel also had a take one leave one book stand which was really cool! Taylor stayed up until 2am reading a full 300 page book! I of course supported her by staying up while watching the Sunday night football game.

Off to the sea tomorrow!
